American Red Cross: Babysitter’s Training Course

This course provides youth who are planning to babysit with the knowledge and skills necessary to safely and responsibly give care for children and infants. This training will help participants to develop leadership skills, learn how to develop a babysitting business, keep themselves and others safe and help children make the right choices.

Joanna’s Kids “R” It has been providing quality programs at affordable prices to the residents of the North Highlands Park & Recreation District’s residents for 34 years.

Programs in ballet, tap, and Jazz dance, as well as in floor exercise gymnastics are provided to students 2yrs to adult. Programs are available to challenge every level of ability in a positive, non-competitive environment. A challenging, standardized curriculum is taught based on the individual abilities of each student, & provides practical experience in both dance & gymnastics, including appropriate terminology.

All students are invited to participate in our annual recital each year as well as other community based performances including the California State Fair. All programs are provided for one hour each week, year round. No clothing requirements or uniforms. Discount rates for multiple enrollments provided.

.Floor Exercise Gymnastics

This floor exercise floor gymnastics program, no apparatus, provides student with a solid background in beginner level skills though Intermediate advanced level skills for ages 2yrs, & up through High School aged and beyond.

From front somersaults, to front and back walkovers, one cartwheel variations, front and back handsprings, and aerial work all of our gymnasts are challenged at a level appropriate for their individual needs, and abilities in a positive environment. Regardless of body type, or co ordination, everyone interested in exploring their abilities in gymnastics is encouraged to discover their best. Our program does not utilize any “props” (mini tramp, parachutes, etc). We work directly, hands on, with each student, based on their abilities. Students progress as they are able, once they acquire a skill they move on to the next, regardless age.

The program includes competitive form, at the more advanced levels, as well as preparatory skills for some apparatus work, our exhibition gymnastics team has performed at Golden 1 Arena, Raley Field, the California State Fair, & the Capital.

Joanna's Kids R It!
PRE-SCHOOL DANCE: Ballet, Tap, Jazz

This beginner level pre school dance programs provides little ones with a fun and informative introduction to dance. In addition to learning the basics of ballet and tap, which include the 5 ballet positions, ballet terminology, and fundamentals of tap dancing, such as toe & heel drops, front digs, toe backs, brushes, & shuffles, our preschoolers will enjoy fun activities that teach left from right and some creative movement “play” at the end of each class. Jazz dance is not introduced until the adv beginner level.

Students will learn in a classroom setting, in a positive, & encouraging environment, while receiving age appropriate curriculum, that focuses on the needs, and ability levels of each student. We HIGHLY recommend parents observe class prior to registration to insure that this class is right for their little dancer.

Culturally Creative Art Program

Culturally Creative Art ProgramCome in and enjoy art making with other creative minds in the community. Learn tips, get advice, feedback, and expertise from guest artists, fellow creative classmates, and the class facilitator. Work with acrylic paints, pastels, watercolors, charcoal, and pencil. If you have other mediums you prefer like oil paint, feel free to use them. You will also have the option of working with clay and making ceramic items. You must bring your own supplies. If you need advice on what to get for your project and where to get it we can help you find the best deals. We will provide a serene and safe atmosphere, an inviting workspace, and relaxing music. You will also be welcome to bring your headphones.
